Guigal are a legendary producer and given the price of some of his neighbours charge this is relatively good value. Steep terraced hillsides perfect for catching the sun (it is not called the ‘roasted slope’ for nothing). This has a small percentage of viognier to lighten the wine a little but this is still a big ripe wine with spice, red berries, plus some cedar notes from the oak. Rounded and full on the palate with structure and acidity in balance with the fruits, complex and long. Will age for a decade or two.
